The history of the Moretti Group began in the 1920s, when the founder of the Aristide Moretti family decided to start his adventure in a world characterized by artisanal milling for the grinding of corn with entrepreneurial ingenuity. In 1922, Aristide and his wife Carolina founded the sole proprietorship Aristide Moretti by renting a corn mill in Campagnola, in the province of Bergamo.

Thanks to a careful selection of corn varieties, Aristide identified the recipe for polenta flour, still famous and sought after throughout the world today, which allowed him to develop and maintain his business over the next thirty years and pass the baton to the second generation of the family, namely his sons Francesco, Ernesto and Franco. In the 1950s, the third generation took over the helm of the business and continued with the mission of placing the values of cohesion and entrepreneurship as the cornerstones of the company. The family’s objectives were achieved in 1968 when, following significant investments, Moretti SpA was established and the mill went from being artisanal to industrial, with a production capacity of 150 tons per day.

In 1994, the Cascina Italia SpA production plant was built in Spirano, a town in the lower Bergamo area. The company was founded by the brothers and cousins representing the third generation. Cascina Italia is the production unit dedicated to fresh eggs in shell, selected and packaged and dedicated to the consumer, and to the production of egg products, dedicated to professionals; more specifically, the new business is the final piece of the entire production chain, which is made up of selected feed mills that supply feed to laying hens raised in farms distributed throughout northern Italy, managed by the Company and controlled by veterinarians and specialized technicians, for a total of approximately 2.5 million laying hens.

In the 2000s, the fourth generation of the Moretti family took over the company. The Group is particularly committed to accelerating the automation process of Cascina Italia and achieves the important result of making it the first Italian industrial company to acquire the advanced technology plant Moba FT 500 capable of processing 180 thousand eggs per hour, for a total of 2.5 million eggs per day. From 1922 to today, each passing of the baton has brought a legacy that can be summarized in the motto: “One centimeter inside the company we are partners; one centimeter outside, relatives.” These words reflect the unique and distinctive character that has allowed the Moretti family to reach the fourth generation; the one that respectfully looks to the past to learn from the fathers and, at the same time, innovates by creating a synthesis between relational experiences and technical skills projected towards the future.
